Every role at Habitat OC contributes to this mission and supports our long-term impact in the community. Job Overview The Major Gifts Officer (MGO)
plays a key role in advancing Habitat OC’s fundraising goals. This position manages a portfolio of 150–200 donors and prospects, with a focus on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts that drive transformational change. The MGO works closely with the Chief Fund Development Officer, organizational leadership, and volunteers to strengthen donor relationships and expand philanthropic support for Habitat OC’s mission. Key Responsibilities Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors and prospects Manage a portfolio of 150–200 donors, developing tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies Expand the donor pipeline through proactive outreach and relationship building Collaborate with the Chief Fund Development Officer on overall major giving strategy, including foundations Produce compelling proposals, impact reports, and donor communications Track portfolio activity and report on progress toward fundraising goals Maintain accurate donor records and engagement metrics in the CRM system Serve as an ambassador for Habitat OC and represent the organization at events such as the Keys to 100 Gala and Leaders What We’re Looking For Minimum 2 years of fundraising or relationship management experience, with exposure to major gifts or philanthropic donor work Demonstrated ability to build and sustain donor and stakeholder relationships Strong research, writing, and communication skills Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management systems (Boomerang preferred) Commitment to the mission and values of Habitat OC Preferred Experience in nonprofit fundraising or donor relations Success drafting donor proposals or campaign materials Compensation Salary range
