Overview
Trident Technical College seeks a Director of Facility Services. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations and is considered essential personnel during and after emergencies.
Responsibilities
Lead daily custodial, building, grounds, landscaping, and beautification programs, including staffing, scheduling, and training for all shifts at every location.
Manage grounds, landscapes, gardens, green spaces, paved areas, hardscapes, wetlands, and pond maintenance.
Ensure all College campuses are safe, functional, and visually appealing for Trident Tech campuses located in Charleston, North Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, Moncks Corner, and Summerville.
Oversee custodial and janitorial programs, ensuring shifts are staffed and facilities are properly maintained and cleaned.
Maintain cleanliness and safety, painting, building interiors and exteriors, and installing outdoor lighting.
Manage signage, seasonal plantings, pruning, carpentry, irrigation, roof drainage, and wetland mitigation.
Drive budgeting and expense monitoring, spearheading project planning, training, scheduling, supply sourcing, and employee recruiting with a focus on operational excellence.
Manage contracts and vendor relationships, and ensure preparedness for safety, emergencies, and wetland mitigation.
Minimum Requirements This position requires a bachelor's degree and relevant program experience. Preferred candidate will have a bachelor's degree plus four (4) years relevant program experience in horticulture, landscaping, plant operations, and custodial operations as well as supervisory experience. Must possess a valid SC driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications In alignment with the Vice President for Operations' broad policy and guidance, this role requires the initiative to continuously improve departmental processes and performance, ensuring consistency with overall management objectives. Candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of management principles, facilities operations, and program oversight, with tangible experience in janitorial and landscaping services. Strong leadership abilities, with experience in strategic planning, resource allocation, and performance management. Proficiency with software for data tracking, analytics dashboards, and budget management. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present to staff and senior leadership. Physical ability to conduct site inspections and respond to emergency situations. The position involves travel between campuses and sites, as well as the physical ability to conduct site inspections. Availability for emergency response is required 24 hours a day, including rotational on-call duties on weekends and support before, during, and after severe weather or other emergencies.
