H onesty A ccountability JOB SUMMARY The Structural Detailer plays a crucial role in converting engineering designs into accurate and comprehensive shop drawings for the fabrication and assembly of highway guardrail products and other steel structures. Daily Expectations Timely and consistent attendance Compliance with all company policies and procedures DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Contract Review : Review contract documents, drawings, specifications, and other project documents to accurately interpret the structural requirements and components for the project. Prepare Shop Drawings : Utilize design software to create detailed shop drawings, assembly drawings, and erection plans, ensuring accurate representations of steel components and connections. Material Takeoffs : Perform precise material takeoffs to determine the quantity and type of steel required for fabrication, considering factors such as weight, dimensions, and specifications. Collaboration with Engineering Team : Coordinate with the VP of Operations, the Drafting Manager, and the Engineering team to resolve discrepancies, conflicts, or modifications to design requirements during the detailing process. Compliance with Codes and Standards : Ensure that all shop drawings comply with relevant state highway codes, industry standards, and regulations to guarantee structural integrity and safety. Quality Control : Conduct thorough reviews and checks on completed drawings to maintain high-quality standards and accuracy before submission for approval. Coordination with In-house Fabricators : Collaborate closely with fabrication teams to communicate design specifications, provide clarifications, and address any on-site issues. Continuous Learning : Stay updated with the latest advancements in structural steel detailing technologies, software, and industry best practices to enhance efficiency and precision in the detailing process. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned MINIMUM JOB REQUIRMENTS Minimum 3-5 years of experience in structural detailing Proficient knowledge and understanding of AutoCAD software and a solid foundation in Microsoft Office Suites with a strong focus on Excel Sound understanding of structural engineering principles, steel fabrication processes, welding techniques, and construction practices Familiarity with AISC Code of Standard Practice and AWS Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy while handling complex design projects Strong organizational and time management skills to meet project deadlines and manage multiple assignments simultaneously Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve issues during the detailing process to maintain project progress A collaborative approach to work, fostering a positive and productive team environment
