Job Summary The role of the Facilities Engineer is to be the subject matter expert for all utilities throughout the campus. The Facility Engineer manages all the utility data in collecting, recording, and analyzing to ensure all systems are operating at maximum efficiency. The Facility Engineer will help to identify and investigate new energy projects and opportunities to save costs and reduce FMC’s carbon footprint.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day engineering and process safety support for the design, operation, and maintenance of the industrial boiler plant, including all infrastructure that supports steam generation and distribution and condensate return. This includes boiler feedwater systems, chemical treatment, compressed air, natural gas, and fuel oil supply.

Provide engineering support for other utility infrastructure including domestic water, sanitary, stormwater, HVAC, and related building systems.

Lead or participate on capital project teams to replace or upgrade infrastructure, being involved or leading FEL design, vendor selection, design review, MOC documentation, shutdown planning, construction support, commissioning, and turnover.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements while improving energy conservation and operational reliability.

Be a Champion of Safety, addressing unsafe conditions and behaviors, and ensuring proper scope, communication, and safety during work.

Lead Process Safety Management requirements related to PHA, MOC, PSSR, and QA.

Collaborate with site process owners and stakeholders to identify business needs and execute capital projects considering resources, budget, and strategic plans.

Work with Procurement to negotiate contracts, ensure confidentiality and master service agreements, and manage proposals and purchase orders within Ariba.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (minimum)

Professional Engineering (P.E.) License registered with the Delaware Association of Professional Engineers (preferred)

Master of Business Administration (MBA) (preferred)

Project Management Professional Certificate (PMP) (preferred)

Experience & Skills

At least 7 years' experience in engineering design and operation of industrial boilers and/or process safety.

Experience with industrial and chemical process systems, HVAC, and related building systems.

Knowledge of standards like ASME, NFPA, PIP, FM Global.

Self-motivated problem solver with independent work capability.

Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (EcoStruxure, Andover Continuum, etc.) is a plus.

Proficiency in MS Office, CAD, and control systems like Rockwell RSLogix 500.

Strong data analysis, stakeholder influence, risk management, and financial acumen.

This role requires on-site presence 5 days a week, with occasional weekend or off-shift work.
