Job Summary
The Controls Engineer III is responsible for leading all phases of a controls project, including concept and research, component selection, network design, panel design, PLC and HMI programming, on-site installation and debug, and after-sales support. The role requires working independently with a high level of expertise in controls engineering practices, theories, and PLC programming. The engineer serves as a subject matter expert, providing coaching and guidance to team members and sharing knowledge of the latest controls technology through training and collaboration with the Engineering Manager. Essential Functions
Expert understanding of AC/DC control systems. Use of software for design engineering and PLC programming. Troubleshoot systems and communicate status effectively. Design and develop electrical layouts and diagrams. Lead controls projects and manage other engineers. Create system test plans and technical documentation. Communicate effectively with team members and keep stakeholders informed. Work Environment
Office and field locations. Travel up to 50%. Physical Demands
Sitting for long periods. Repetitive data entry. Lifting up to 50 pounds. Work Schedule
Flexible hours, with general office hours M-F, 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm. Site work hours vary. Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in programming languages and control device networks. Ability to read specifications and develop designs accordingly. Organizational skills and attention to detail. Effective communication and problem-solving skills. Willingness to travel and work non-business hours as needed. Education, Experience, and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related experience. 6+ years in controls engineering, including PLC programming and system commissioning.
