Lighting Controls Sales Design Engineer – Hybrid – Rockleigh, NJ or Plano, TX
Crestron Electronics, a global leader in automation and control solutions, seeks a polished, proactive Design Engineer to support its Commercial Lighting Sales Support Services Department. This hybrid role requires on‑site presence 3 days a week in either Rockleigh, NJ or Plano, TX.
Responsibilities
Interface with customers via phone, video conferencing, and e‑mail to provide Crestron solutions for sales opportunities.
Develop project‑specific deliverables (specification materials, pricing, and supporting documentation) to win high‑profile jobs and grow the business.
Produce trade‑ready sales resources and tools to support the Sales Team.
Manage multiple tasks simultaneously (8‑10 simultaneous assignments) and meet tight deadlines.
Design lighting layout and control systems using AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with local energy codes across the country.
Maintain a database of detailed drawings and documents (100+ items).
Answer technical questions and provide guidance on wide‑ranging issues related to ongoing commercial lighting projects.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years experience in lighting control design.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent training and experience.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Revit, or other space planning/construction drawing software.
Experience with Accubid Anywhere, networking, and specific dimming technologies (0‑10V, DALI, DMX, etc.) is a plus.
Strong understanding of lighting control equipment from major manufacturers (Crestron, Lutron, Acuity, Wattstopper, etc.).
Certifications such as CCS (Certified Construction Specifier) or CDT (Construction Documents Technology) preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Outstanding time‑management and organizational skills.
Must be able to work onsite in a hybrid role 3 days a week in the designated Crestron office locations.
Legal right to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
Compensation & Benefits Annual pay range: $77,500 – $110,000 (subject to performance). Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, holidays, on‑site amenities at NJ headquarters & TX facilities, and access to Crestron Market Cafés and fitness centers.
