Position Summary The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead and support project teams, conduct design, simulation, prototype development, and process improvement activities. The candidate will work collaboratively with manufacturing, quality, and operations to deliver reliable, high‑performance life‑science products.

Responsibilities

Perform mechanical design of new products following MVE’s five‑phase product development process.

Guide prototype development and experimental design to align with strategic product goals.

Author and refine test and validation protocols for new concepts, design iterations, and cost‑reduction initiatives.

Conduct thermal modeling, CFD simulations, and detailed tolerance stack‑ups to ensure product performance and manufacturability.

Integrate DFM and DFA principles early to reduce complexity, cost, and time‑to‑market.

Apply reliability engineering tools to predict product life and mitigate failure modes.

Lead creation, maintenance, and review of Design FMEAs, ensuring risk is identified and mitigated.

Author and approve technical documentation for new products and line extensions, complying with regulatory and quality standards.

Collaborate with operations and quality to establish scalable production lines.

Develop product cost models and optimize BOM accuracy using enterprise document management systems.

Initiate, lead, and close out Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Temporary Design Deviations (TDDs).

Conduct formal and informal design reviews, ensuring verification test plans meet functional, regulatory, and risk‑based requirements.

Resolve complex product non‑conformances, driving root cause analysis and corrective design actions.

Mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical resource for advanced troubleshooting.

Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and engineering best practices.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent disciplines.

Minimum 6–10 years of full‑time engineering experience.

Proficiency with SOLIDWORKS CAD software for mechanical design.

Working knowledge of FEA software and Design of Experiments (DOE).

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Strong understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack‑up calculations.

Experience with common manufacturing processes: machining, welding, die casting, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, etc.

Ability to work independently and as part of an integrated team.

Willingness to travel when required.

Preferred Skills

Experience with cryogenics.

Experience with CFD modeling.

Familiarity with medical device regulatory requirements such as MDD/MDR, ISO 13485, or FDA design controls.
