The Plant Manager provides leadership and direction to manufacturing operations, including production, shipping, maintenance, quality, and human resources. The Plant Manager works with the operations team to direct day-to-day facility operations and may liaise with Sales, Distribution, Corporate, and State and Federal Regulatory personnel. Responsibilities focus on safe execution that optimizes manufacturing costs while meeting product quality standards. General Responsibilities
Provides leadership and direction to the plant in all areas of responsibility including planning, production, processing, packaging, cold storage, and shipping. Supports plant leadership in overseeing overall manufacturing activities to ensure customer orders are received, scheduled, produced and shipped safely at the lowest landed cost and standards to meet customer requirements and service level agreements while maintaining established quality standards. Analyzes plant operations and key metrics to maintain operational efficiencies within each department. Manages expenses and controls shrink, yield, labor and overhead costs using Continuous Improvement techniques. Leads inventory and production teams to ensure adequate raw material inventory and accurate receipt, data entry, and timely confirmation. Collects and reports reliable information to measure the performance of the plant and its departments as required. Ensures customer needs are satisfied through scheduling processes that ensure products are manufactured, loaded, and shipped to customers at the ordered quantities and on the required day. Develops, executes, and maintains SOPs for all aspects of the business. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and rules. Assists in resolving customer complaints and issues related to product quality. Provides management of employees directly or through supervisors to ensure effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary action and performance management. May participate in negotiations or contract-related activities if a collective bargaining agreement exists. Cooperates cross-functionally as a change agent with all departments within the company. Leads by example, ensuring compliance with company policies, standards, specifications, and supplier requirements. Engages in typical management responsibilities including planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and delegating. Sets performance management goals for local leadership and conducts performance reviews according to the company sequence. Qualifications
Thorough understanding of regulatory laws and responsibilities as they pertain to Good Manufacturing Practices. Experience using Continuous Improvement methodologies. Proficient understanding of budgeting and cost control. Proven track record of improved results in quality, safety, service and cost. Knowledge of Environmental, Safety, and Workers Compensation concepts. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong organization, prioritization, and attention to detail. Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change. Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines. Ability to select, coach, develop, engage and retain a team of employees. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Education/Experience
MUST HAVE:
a minimum of 5 years hands-on management experience in a food manufacturing setting Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications. Seniority level
