KCI is seeking a
Senior Mechanical Project Manager
with experience managing a broad range of public and private sector clients and associated MEP engineering work. The preferred candidate is a skilled project manager with broad knowledge of mechanical building systems and project management principles. Additional knowledge in related engineering fields, such as electrical engineering, is a major plus. Position:
Project Manager for HVAC and plumbing consulting including assessments, design, and commissioning projects Act as technical oversight for mechanical engineering group and execute QAQC on multiple project deliverables Guide multiple design engineers across projects in mechanical design decision making, equipment selection, drawing, specification, calculations, and design narrative development Serve as client point of contact and project manager on larger, more complex projects with multiple disciplines and external subconsultants Proficient technical knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems: RTUs, DX splits, heat pumps, VRF, VAV, AHUs, DOAS units, chilled water, hot water systems, condenser water systems, geothermal systems, HVAC controls, and building codes and standards Pursue new work/clients, develop marketing materials Proposal development – qualifications and technical approach/scope/fee Contract review Track project budget and scope; negotiate additional work scopes and fees Assist in workload planning for staff Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders and coordinate planning/scheduling Occasional travel to project sites to gather/document existing conditions and perform construction phase punch outs Research and determine project unknowns: local jurisdictional code requirements, design best practices (ASHRAE, Industrial Hygiene, ASPE, etc.), plan reviews, inspectors, and vendor coordination Opportunities to advance technical knowledge by attending continuing education seminars and conferences PE license required Qualifications
Education and/or Skills Required: Bachelor's Degree in a related field (AEC Industry) with a minimum of 6 years of related professional experience, or 10 years of equivalent experience Experience with expanding project management duties and managing larger-scale projects or programs Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders Proficiency in project management software and tools; ability to develop and maintain comprehensive project plans Knowledge of industry standards for project management, quality assurance, and safety Problem-solving skills to identify issues and implement solutions in a fast-paced environment Strong negotiation skills for contracts, scope changes, and stakeholder agreements Understanding of accounting principles to manage budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation Education and/or Work Experience Preferred: Master's Degree in related field (AEC Industry) Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations Required: Ability to complete the KCI PM Training and Contract Risk Training and pass the PM Board within 6 months of start date Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
