Traction Power and Overhead Contact Systems (TPS/OCS) Practice Leader
Join HDR as a Practice Leader in Traction Power and Overhead Contact Systems. You will provide technical leadership for rail systems projects worldwide, focusing on traction electrification and overhead contact systems.

Responsibilities
Design and deliver electrification distribution for streetcar, electrified bus, light rail, heavy rail, commuter rail and high‑speed rail projects using overhead contact or third‑rail systems.
Develop OCS design, sectional sizing, equipment protection, SCADA/control center interface, system feeders, and traction power distribution systems, bonding and grounding.
Lead and coordinate technical teams across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with client needs and design standards.
Manage project scoping, fee preparation, scheduling, budget tracking, and deliver work products.
Support client development, opportunity tracking, and proposal work.
Mentor staff in traction power and OCS design practices.
Travel as required for project installation or design support.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
15+ years experience in railway electrification systems and design of AC and DC traction power distribution.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required; license in the state of assignment preferred.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, managing client interfaces and full project life cycle.
Industry standing in AREMA, APTA, IEEE committees and strong client relationships.
Proficiency with CADD tools and ability to complete designs independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience in high‑speed rail, commuter rail, and light‑rail electrification projects.
Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills.
