Our global EPC Firm client is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer - Protection Applications for a full-time/permanent opportunity in Chesterfield, MO.
The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting electrical plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.
Executes complex assignments requiring the use of advanced electrical engineering techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment, and/or technological methods.
Coordinate departmental or divisional project studies, reports, or project design assignments.
Responsible for performing power system studies and system protection settings coordination on various projects (Up to 500-kV voltage level).
Develop design basis documentation for protective settings and generate native relay configuration files.
Conduct design reviews and support quality control.
Assist the project manager in developing the scope of work and conceptual design for the projects.
Train, guide, and mentor less experienced team members.
Support business development and marketing initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a directly related field, plus seven (7) years of experience in electrical systems studies in the electric utility or industrial power distribution industry.
OR a Master’s degree plus six (6) years of related experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus seven (7) years of related experience.
Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer licensure.
Previous experience in development of protective relay settings in Transmission, or Distribution industry
Prior experience in commonly utilized system modelling software programs (ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, SKM, etc.)
Knowledge of protection schemes and philosophies commonly applied at Transmission and Distribution substations.
Developing native relay setting files using SEL’s AcSELerator and GE’s Enervista software programs
Ability to read and interpret electrical single lines, three lines, schematics, functional diagrams, etc.
Designing calculations, including short circuit calculation, current transformer performance and ratio selection, over-current element coordination, zone-distance element selection and coordination, and relay loadability calculation
Ability to perform Grounding, Arc Flash, and other Power system studies is a plus
Providing engineering support with construction and commissioning activities for substations
