We are seeking an experienced Staff Quality Engineer to oversee the manufacturing of large stationary battery products, ensuring that products and the manufacturing processes meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and quality. We aim for built right first time and a zero defect mindset, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement to guarantee that every product that leaves our factory meets exceptional standards. You will collaborate with multiple engineering groups, manufacturing areas, and product teams to exceed customer expectations and establish world-class quality processes, contributing to seamless, efficient, and reliable operations that prioritize customer satisfaction, safety, and sustainability while driving business growth and profitability. What You'll Do
Accountable for the quality of incoming components and quality controls and assurance in production process and driving continuous improvement Lead solving complex technical challenges impacting internal and external customers by directing problem solving using methodologies such as 8D, Lean Six Sigma and Shainin Lead cross-functional teams to safeguard and improve product and component quality, including risk assessment, containment actions, in-depth root cause analysis, experiments and executing corrective and preventive actions including lessons learned for future products Lead cross-functional efforts to achieve and improve internal and external customer satisfaction, field reliability, nonconformities, scrap, and improving first pass yield and related objectives Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning for new programs, including development of quality-critical product, components and process requirements and characteristics including supplier qualification Drive Design & Process FMEA to identify risks and implement actions to mitigate risks with cross-functional teams, including continuous improvement of current controls Identify and deploy critical product/subassembly/components and manufacturing requirements to ensure customer and production needs, including supplier development Develop, validate, implement and continuously improve effective quality controls across production lines in coordination with Design, Production, Operations, Controls and Maintenance teams Participate in program, projects, and design change management reviews to ensure product subsystem quality and reliability requirements are met, including analysis, trials and validation Assist development with dimensional analysis, statistical tolerancing and other methods to investigate effects of part and process variability on system performance and manufacturability, including process capability analyses to assess and improve supplier and production capabilities What You'll Bring
Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment and Quality Engineering function Minimum 3 years of experience with electro-mechanical assemblies, battery modules manufacturing preferred Quality Engineering expertise including ASQ certification preferred (Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Six Sigma Green/Black Belt/Certified Quality Auditor/Certified Manager of Quality, etc.) Exceptional problem solving skills and expertise utilizing problem solving methodologies (8D, Lean Six Sigma, Shainin); relevant certification is a plus Experience applying Automotive Core Tools and other relevant methods and tools (8D, FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, Capacity Study, MSA, APQP, PPAP, DOE, hypothesis testing, etc.) Strong background in analyzing and interpreting large data sets, with experience in data mining, databases and scripting (e.g., MySQL, Python). Proficiency with statistical software such as Minitab or JMP is preferred Understanding of Quality Management standards such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Ability to work with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, service engineering, and suppliers Benefits and Compensation
