Electrical Engineer II/III - Renewable Energy

Timmons Group is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer II/III - Renewable Energy to join our Renewable Energy Department of our Electrical Design Group located in our Charlotte, NC office. This group focuses on power generation and renewable energy projects throughout the country including solar farms and battery storage projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform electrical designs of projects from conception through design completion including collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop equipment layouts, one-line diagrams, communication systems design, cable routing, grounding design and equipment selection and specs. Modify and review electrical drawings. Perform cable ampacity and trench design using software packages like CYMCAP, ETAP or AmpCalc. Model electrical systems using software packages like ETAP or SKM for generation of electrical reports including short circuit analysis, reactive power and load flow analysis, and arc flash hazard analysis. Model grounding system design using software packages including CDEGs and WinIGS. Support Project Managers or staff on design of power generation and renewable energy projects. Design electrical components for projects based on requirements set by Project Managers. Apply strong knowledge of electrical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes and procedures using common electrical industry standards. Support design of power plant and switchyard electrical system upgrades. Work under the supervision of Project Managers or staff to produce electrical engineering designs. Provide input to senior engineering staff on design issues based on calculations or engineering solutions. Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to apply professional knowledge to routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities. Participate in the creation of engineering services proposals, including calculation/estimation of time schedules and costs of the proposed work. Participate in budget development. Skills and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program. Ideal candidates will have six (6) years or more of professional electrical experience. Five (5) years or more of relay coordination and schematic design experience. Five (5) years or more of detailed design engineering experience and/or owners engineering experience in generating facilities and/or substations is preferred. Engineer in Training Certification / Professional Engineer registration strongly preferred. Previous experience leading a group of engineers is a plus. ETAP or SKM software experience. Proficiency with AutoCAD. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and accountable for assigned responsibilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future. Additional Information
