Responsibilities
Property Systems Management
Oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, and fire/life safety systems to ensure 24/7 functionality.
Maintain elevators, generators, lighting, building automation, and emergency power systems.
Conduct daily inspections of guest rooms, event spaces, and public areas, ensuring system uptime and safety compliance.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical systems.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests, minimizing operational disruptions.
Fabricate components as necessary to ensure system functionality.
Maintain low and high voltage electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repairs.
Handle hydraulic systems maintenance, including troubleshooting and repairs.
Operate scissor lifts and other elevated work platforms safely.
Utilize diagnostic tools to measure electrical current and troubleshoot issues.
Preventive Maintenance & Preservation Oversight
Execute preventive maintenance plans for modern infrastructure and historic architectural features.
Monitor wear on historic elements and coordinate restoration efforts.
Maintain documentation for preservation protocols in alignment with landmark status.
Capital Planning & Vendor Coordination
Collaborate with finance and ownership groups to develop and implement capital improvement strategies.
Schedule, supervise, and evaluate contractors and vendor teams to ensure quality execution.
Coordinate with internal departments to minimize guest or operational disruption during repairs or upgrades.
Guest-Facing Support & Service Response
Respond promptly and discreetly to guest concerns related to climate control, lighting, plumbing, and in-room technical systems.
Communicate clearly with guests and hotel leadership when issues arise, offering informed, respectful, and reassuring guidance.
Provide interpretive information to guests about the building’s original systems and restored elements when appropriate.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Work closely with front desk, housekeeping, culinary, events, and F&B teams to support VIP arrivals, weddings, boardroom setups, and private dining events.
Align with the Executive Chef and banquet team on culinary equipment support and service timing for Michelin-caliber dining.
Assist housekeeping and stewarding teams with timely repair of guestroom and back-of-house issues.
Compliance, Safety & Documentation
Ensure strict adherence to OSHA, NFPA, local fire codes, and historic preservation standards.
Maintain and update all safety and compliance documentation, inspections, certifications, and incident reports.
Train engineering and night teams on emergency response procedures, lockout/tagout, and hazard communication standards.
Brand Alignment & Strategic Initiatives
Support sustainability goals, such as LED retrofits and LEED-conscious practices, while preserving architectural integrity.
Contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives with discretion, accuracy, and full alignment to service and brand standards.
Act as a cultural steward of the building, ensuring engineering excellence supports luxury hospitality at every guest touchpoint.
Qualifications & Requirements Required Experience & Technical Proficiency
Minimum of 2 years of experience in hotel or commercial facility maintenance.
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems under pressure in a high-stress environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and safety documents.
Familiarity with safety codes, OSHA regulations, and best practices in maintenance.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
Able to work in environments with loud noise, varying temperatures, and confined spaces.
Ability to crouch, kneel, climb ladders, stand, walk, and move freely throughout the property for extended periods.
Comfortable working in high-stress situations and maintaining composure.
Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
Preferred Qualifications
Trade certifications (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, EPA, etc.).
Experience with hotel property management systems (PMS or CMMS).
Bilingual abilities are a plus.
