Controls Engineer
to support our maintenance and production teams by troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving automated equipment and control systems. This role involves working with PLCs, HMIs, I/O devices, and automation components, ensuring accurate documentation, preventive maintenance, and system reliability. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with Allen Bradley software, a solid background in electrical/electronic troubleshooting, and the ability to collaborate across teams to drive safety, quality, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Support the maintenance department by assisting in troubleshooting equipment issues, including PLC ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors. Maintain PLC documentation received from equipment suppliers and archive PLC programs and machine controls drawings in electronic and/or paper formats throughout the facility. Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment including devices, I/O, instruments, and other components to meet production and safety goals. Support various I/O devices connected to PLCs, including HMIs, scanners, sensors, relays, solenoids, servo drives, and assist maintenance personnel in troubleshooting pneumatic circuits. Schedule and complete backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs and develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs. Apply knowledge of electronic and instrumentation principles to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operation. Identify and plan for process impacts resulting from engineering and launch changes. Support 8D or similar root-cause problem-solving activities to address abnormalities and resolve root causes. Contribute to specifications for equipment purchases, reviewing and commenting on equipment control drawings prior to approval. Requirements & Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience. At least 5 years of Controls Engineering experience in manufacturing, preferably in the automotive sector. Experience with Allen Bradley's RS Logix 5, RS Logix 5000, ControlLogix, and PanelView software. Ability to diagnose problems with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems interfacing with electrical and electronic systems. Experience reading electrical drawings and schematics. Willing to work off-shifts and overtime if necessary. Automotive experience is preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Seniority level
