Aeronautical Engineer – T-6 COMBS (Remote, Travel Required)
The T-6 COMBS Aeronautical Engineer provides program‑level engineering and technical support for the T‑6 Contractor Operated and Maintained Base Supply (COMBS) program across all sites. This role focuses on evaluating part discrepancies, reviewing technical data, assessing configuration impacts, and supporting material‑related engineering decisions rather than performing or directing hands‑on aircraft maintenance. The Aeronautical Engineer supports Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs), Technical Directives (TDs), and Time Change Interval (TCI) actions to ensure parts, components, and configurations meet airworthiness, OEM, contractual, and customer requirements. Although this is a remote position, the preferred candidate will live within a commutable distance to the OKC area.
Responsibilities
Review, interpret, and apply OEM technical data, service bulletins, engineering drawings, and directives.
Evaluate parts and component discrepancies to determine engineering disposition and configuration impact.
Provide technical support for Over and Above (O&A) requests, cost estimates, and engineering justifications.
Support TCTO, TD, and TCI planning, implementation coordination, and compliance tracking at the program level.
Ensure technical directives and configuration changes are accurately reflected in supply and maintenance data systems.
Coordinate with OEM and government engineering authorities on part applicability, substitutions, and approvals.
Maintain configuration control and support updates to aircraft and equipment records from a material and engineering perspective.
Perform data analysis on part reliability, usage trends, and recurring component issues to recommend improvements.
Support Material Review Board (MRB), Failure Review Board (FRB), and non‑conformance resolution for parts and material‑related issues.
Assist in the development of engineering change proposals (ECPs) and process improvements.
Collaborate with Quality Assurance to address part quality concerns and support audits or inspections.
Provide engineering input during program reviews, readiness assessments, and fleet status meetings.
Prepare technical reports, briefs, and presentations for PMO, supply chain, and customer stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with FAA, military, OEM, contractual, and customer regulations and standards.
Perform other engineering duties as assigned to support COMBS program objectives and material readiness.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering required.
3+ years of aviation/aerospace engineering experience required (military or contractor environment preferred).
Experience with T‑6 aircraft or trainer platforms highly desired.
Experience with OEM, FAA, or military airworthiness standards preferred.
Experience with configuration management, material engineering, or supply support systems preferred.
Strong knowledge of aeronautical or aerospace engineering principles.
Experience with aircraft parts, component configuration, and material engineering (T‑6 experience preferred).
Familiarity with technical directives (TCTO, TD, TCI) and configuration management.
Ability to read and interpret OEM technical data, drawings, maintenance manuals, and engineering standards.
Strong analytical skills for evaluating parts and determining engineering disposition.
Experience with reliability, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software tools (e.g., CAD, modeling, data analysis).
Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with PMO, supply chain, QA, and external stakeholders.
