Overview
Lead Structural Engineer to join the Power & Energy team in Houston, TX. The following locations will also be considered: Hailey, ID; Seattle, WA; Overland Park, KS; Atlanta, GA; Oradell, NJ; Mt. Laurel, NJ; Boise, ID. The candidate will be involved in projects with the Power Generation Team and be part of a growing organization that meets clients’ objectives and solves their challenges. WSP is a leader in power delivery, power generation, and project management with a focus on the energy transition. Our network offers collaboration on exciting projects with diverse teammates globally. Your Impact Design light foundations and structures for solar farms, battery energy storage facilities, and substation projects. Design heavy foundations and structures for large power generation projects: generators, turbines, transformers, pipe racks, gas compressors, metal building systems, and masonry walls/buildings. Design structural steel systems for buildings, platforms, equipment supports, etc. Coordinate design requirements with drafter/designers. Occasionally travel to clients, projects, and sites to interface with clients, verify existing conditions, and monitor construction progress (5%–10% travel). Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner. Proactively collaborate with engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, local, and privately funded projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering 7+ years of relevant post-education engineering experience and prior structural or civil design experience Professional Engineer (PE) license Proficiency in structural engineering principles, practices, processes, and their application to project work Knowledge of applicable structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements Experience with power generation, transmission, and distribution projects Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences Self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment Proficiency with technical writing, office software, design tools (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, RISA, STADD), and data analysis tools Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to apply technical knowledge to testing data, calculations, and solutions Experience coordinating and directing subcontractors and teams to complete tasks safely and efficiently Knowledge of geotechnical engineering Experience with pre-engineered metal building systems Experience with seismic analysis and design Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company health, safety, and harassment policies Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs Open to longer duration field assignments (1 to 18 months) Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Engineering WSP Benefits

Expected salary range: $98,300 – $175,230 for all locations. Compensation is determined based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geographic location, and may be adjusted for internal equity.
