The Crew Chief will provide leadership in daily operations of all Survey field crew activities and will supervise assigned field team members to acquire survey data and complete field projects. The role includes providing survey assistance under the direction of an Office Coordinator or Senior Crew Chief. Principal Responsibilities
Oversees and performs day-to-day Field Crew operations to provide field data for land surveys, including boundary, topographic surveys, and construction stakeouts Operates, maintains, and cares for survey equipment, data collection devices, and geodetic/reality capture gear Transfers files between data collection devices and internal project folders Performs quality checks and processing of field data; downloads, maintains, and verifies accuracy of project data, reports, and database management Maintains professional and productive relationships with clients and coworkers Oversees and trains individuals to operate survey equipment (total station, GPS, levels, data collectors) for field data collection May perform pre-field staking calculations and preparation of as-staked cutsheets/deliverables Operates a company vehicle Observes safety and security procedures Required Skills/Abilities
Advanced knowledge of surveying fundamentals and region-specific procedures Knowledge of modern survey equipment, devices, and methods Experience with Trimble, Leica Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors, and GPS (preferred) Problem-solving techniques Knowledge of jurisdictional and industry requirements Ability to work in an outdoor environment Oral and written communication skills Ability to professionally represent IMEG RPLS/SI preferred but not required Ability to collect field data in an organized, neat, and professional manner for boundary, topographic, design, and construction stakeout projects Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured; consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays Education and Experience
Associates degree or certificate in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or Civil Engineering preferred Minimum 4 years of experience; 8+ years preferred in the construction industry This position is not eligible for sponsorship Physical Requirements
All-weather outdoor work with seasonal extremes Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift up to 50 pounds Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, and grasp Exposure to loud noises Locations
