Job Description Turner & Townsend is seeking a skilled
Mechanical Estimator
to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a professional with a solid background in mechanical estimating, particularly within commercial, data center, industrial, or high‑tech construction environments. While mechanical estimating is the core focus, familiarity with electrical and plumbing systems (MEP) is a strong advantage.
Responsibilities
Prepare mechanical cost estimates across all project phases—from conceptual through detailed design.
Deliver accurate and timely cost plans and estimates to support client decision‑making.
Collaborate with design and project teams to provide cost input during feasibility studies, procurement planning, and value engineering.
Support the procurement process, including bid analysis and contract documentation.
Conduct cost checks, valuations, and change control processes throughout the project lifecycle.
Assist in producing monthly cost reports and final accounts.
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to validate pricing and scope.
Contribute to the improvement of estimating tools, templates, and best practices.
Analyze historical cost data and market trends to inform future estimates.
Support risk and contingency analysis during preconstruction phases.
Review design documents and specifications to ensure alignment with cost estimates.
Participate in internal and external estimate reviews and presentations.
Maintain organized documentation of estimates, assumptions, and pricing sources.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to refine scope and budget alignment.
Adhere to SOX control responsibilities where applicable.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical field.
4–7 years of experience in mechanical estimating for large‑scale commercial or high‑tech construction projects.
Strong understanding of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems as they relate to building construction.
Familiarity with electrical and plumbing estimating (MEP) is a plus.
Proficient in estimating software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam).
Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
Experience managing multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
