Our McNair Campus is designed around the human experience and patient safety, with a network focused on leading-edge patient care, research, and education in partnership with Texas Heart Institute and Baylor College of Medicine. Responsibilities Responsible for completing as assigned, daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas. Performs duties with working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements; demonstrates safe chemical use and equipment handling for items within the healthcare environment. Adheres to organization safety, risk management and infection control guidelines and standards; promotes a culture of safety. Actively participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including efforts to improve patient experience and cleanliness metrics. Maintains cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment as outlined in Standard Work cart setup. Removes waste and transports to the appropriate disposal area, identifying proper waste stream handling (regulated medical, recycle, solid, hazardous) per procedures and regulatory requirements. Follows infection prevention practices (cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, PPE donning/doffing). Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA). Practices critical thinking and demonstrates personal accountability. Identifies and utilizes appropriate resources to ensure issues are followed through and resolved; demonstrates knowledge of facility safety requirements. Operates and maintains EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment. May perform tasks for various facility needs (conference room setup, cleaning stairwells/elevators, hanging cubicle curtains). May mentor new Environmental Services Tech I employees and collaborate as part of the patient care team. Other duties as assigned. Key Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Required Education And Experience: None Preferred Education And Experience High School Graduate - General Studies; High School GED - General Studies; Previous healthcare experience. Required Licensure And Certifications None Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Training Can distinguish differences between levels of disinfection and perform low and intermediate level disinfection. Ability to explain differences between levels of disinfection and perform intermediate level disinfection where required. Operate necessary equipment/machines and effectively use computers and mobile devices; communicate openly and respectfully with co-workers. Ability to work without close supervision.
