Overview
Applications Sales Engineer II, Metals (Heat Treatment and Combustion) at Messer Americas. The Application Sales Engineer (ASE) sells value-added technology-based gas applications in collaboration with Account Managers. This includes prospect evaluation, technical solution design, value creation and capture determinations, proposal writing and presentation, process change management leadership, and support of the account manager in closing the deal. The ASE performs the application start-up and assists the account manager in the growth and renewal of existing business and in identifying prospects. The ASE works in a team-selling environment to win deals. Responsibilities
Create, grow, and maintain sales of industrial gas products and technical solutions to new and existing customers in Metals & Manufacturing, with a focus on combustion, melting, and heat treatment applications. Serve as the technical expert differentiating Messer, driving profitable sales using the Messer Pro sales process for new customer acquisition and the growth/retention of existing customers. Differentiate Messer’s equipment and solution offerings by understanding customer needs and applying creativity, innovation, and a value-added sales approach. Support sales and market segment personnel in opportunity qualification, design of technical solutions, determination of value creation, understanding customer feedback, development of solution cost, and proposal development for technical solutions; gain understanding of competitive gas supply contract terms. Maintain the existing customer base through process knowledge and technical expertise and assist in relationship selling. Obtain insight into industry trends and opportunities for new applications or improvement of existing equipment. Build relationships with multiple functions (e.g., operations, maintenance, engineering) in prospect/customer organizations. Develop and employ industry networks to enhance Messer prioritization and performance. Design applications equipment/technical solutions for the target industry in collaboration with Messer’s Global technical team and the Applications Equipment Engineering team Industry Manager. Lead actions that enable value creation through technical solutions, including customer process audits and safety training/awareness activities. Maintain technical knowledge of Messer’s applications technologies and services, as well as alternative and competitive solutions. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Materials, Metallurgical, Chemical or Mechanical); MBA is a plus. Five (5) years of hands-on experience applying and selling technical solutions in combustion, melting, or heat treatment applications for metals processing and manufacturing. Willing and able to travel overnight up to 50% of the time. Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $106,000-$155,000. Messer provides medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, life insurance, paid time off, and other voluntary benefits.
