Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for a Principal SE Test Engineer OR Sr. Principal SE Test Engineer. This position will be officially located at Edwards AFB, California, and will require routine coverage in Palmdale, California. Responsibilities
You will be assigned to the Product Support organization as the on-site support equipment integration and test lead where you will plan, coordinate, and conduct test operations for the respective equipment. The candidate will align support equipment test targets with the flight test organization, NGDS test team, support equipment responsible engineer (RE), and on-site customer representatives. You will provide engineering assessment and test results to support equipment management and support the customer briefing for final approval. The role requires a flexible work schedule to complete testing when opportunities are identified, including 4x10 shifts (Mon–Thu) 1st shift, 4x10 shifts (Mon–Thu) 2nd shift, 3x10 shifts (Fri–Sun) 1st shift, and 3x10 shifts (Fri–Sun) 2nd shift. You will be required to periodically work off hours or hours that aren’t your official schedule as needed. Travel between Edwards AFB and Palmdale, California is required. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications For Principal Engineer Must have a Bachelor's in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 5 years of engineering experience OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 3 years of engineering experience. Prior aircraft design and/or test experience Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance or higher, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company. Basic Qualifications For Sr. Principal Engineer Must have a Bachelor's in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 8 years of engineering experience OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 6 years of engineering experience OR a PhD (STEM) AND 4 years of experience. Prior aircraft design and/or test experience Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance or higher, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical, or Aerospace, Physics, Mathematics or related technical discipline preferred Previous experience as mechanical or structural engineer Experience working on an active flightline Current Special Access Program (SAP) clearance Experience testing and/or using ground support equipment or tooling on military aircraft Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Thrive with Us

The salary ranges are provided for general guidance and may vary based on scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, and market conditions. Primary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00. Secondary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00. Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply depending on the position. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays and PTO.
