Responsibilities
Develop electrical equipment specifications for motor control centers (MCCs), switchgear and other electrical equipment.
Prepare and/or direct the CAD department to produce thorough engineering documentation to record these designs.
Contribute to the material procurement process by preparing specifications and reviewing vendors' quotations for technical accuracy.
Use prepared engineering documents as part of the bid package to allow contractors to bid accurately. Analyze returning bids for completeness and pricing. Select and approve contractors.
Review specifications, drawings, and other vendor documentation within the electrical discipline to verify compliance with project requirements.
Perform sizing and selection of electrical equipment.
Direct and participate in activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements. Attendance to FAT required. Periodic field travel to oversee electrical contractor's progress is also required.
Direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
Specific Knowledge & Skills
Experience in low and medium voltage power distribution systems, including power system design, equipment sizing, protective device selection and power system studies.
Familiarity with single line diagrams, power and control schematics, raceway and wiring design for conduits and cable trays, grounding design and details for electrical installation.
Understanding of electrical specifications for generators, motors, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, soft starters and UPS systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Knowledge of power modeling software (ETAP preferred) to conduct power system analyses (motor starting transient, load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination and arc flash).
Working knowledge of AutoCAD desirable.
Familiarity with NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety).
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (BSEE) from a four-year college or university.
P.E. preferred.
10+ years of experience.
Field Construction experience desirable, but not required.
