Shermco Industries Overview The Field Service Technician - Electrical Testing will be responsible for performing electrical testing, maintenance, and repair services on electrical distribution systems and equipment. The technician will work with a team of professionals to ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Responsibilities Travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data on low, medium, and high voltage (480 Volt to 600 kV) electrical systems. Perform instrument transformer tests Conduct power transformer testing - Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc. Test both electro-mechanical and solid state relays Perform cable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches Test low, medium, and high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers Perform moderately complex relay calibration and power metering Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Ability to drive locally/regionally daily and be available for periodic overnight travel. Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or an EE Degree from an ABET-accredited college, or similar military experience (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, NAVY Seabee). NETA Certification (I, II, III, or IV) or similar preferred. At least 2 years of relevant experience in switchgear testing & troubleshooting. Good PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel; PowerDB experience is a plus. Ability to work safely and adhere to electrical safety procedures. Preferred OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training; training can be provided by Shermco. Other Requirements Pass pre-employment hair follicle drug test and periodic, unannounced drug tests. Acceptable pre-employment criminal background check. Physically able to crawl, climb, stand, walk, and lift up to 75 lbs., with or without accommodations. Pass a fit for duty physical exam. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Willing to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights. No sponsorship required to work in the U.S. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. Willing to travel at least 40%. Background check and drug/alcohol screening required. Pay Range USD $31.78 - USD $41.75 per hour. Seniority level
