Overview
Maintenance Mechanic 2 (M-F 6:55am - 3:25pm) at University of Washington. This role focuses on maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction of university facilities, grounds and equipment across a primary job site. Responsibilities
Under the direction of the supervisor and lead, perform skilled work in operation, maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction of buildings, grounds, machinery, facilities, and equipment. Repair, install and maintain physical facilities requiring skilled mechanical and trades work. Apply knowledge in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding and machinist work; troubleshoot and complete routine corrective and preventive maintenance assignments. Repair and maintain buildings, facilities and equipment (e.g., windows, blinds, screens, doors, patching and painting, minor plumbing, masonry, shelving, carpentry, ceiling tiles, laminate). Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment. Perform journey-level and semi-skilled tasks across multiple trades as needed; operate power tools and machinery; load/unload materials; transport tools and personnel to job sites. Communicate with supervision and coordinate with other UW Facilities shops; ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures (SDS, HRCs, PPE). Support process improvements and Lean principles; participate in meetings and training; provide excellent customer service. Other duties as required. Qualifications
Required: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a journey worker, or full-journey status in a union, or four years of applicable work experience. Vocational training may substitute on a year-for-year basis. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license may be required. Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except where required by law (licenses, certifications, etc.). Desired: Knowledge of WISHA/OSHA regulations; proficiency with Microsoft Office or equivalent; strong teamwork, communication skills; experience with preventative maintenance. Conditions of Employment
May be required to accept variable work shifts. May require access to confined spaces and working at heights with safety precautions. Ability to lift and move heavy material; suitable footwear provided by employee. Respirator fit and usage may be required; medical screening may be conducted for specific locations. Must be able to work in a non-smoking environment and have regular attendance. Compensation & Benefits
