We are seeking an experienced Electrical Manufacturing Engineer to support Department of Defense (DoD) aviation programs in a build-to-print manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will serve as the technical liaison between engineering, production, and quality teams while ensuring compliance with military specifications and contract requirements.
Responsibilities
Defines, analyzes and applies techniques involving the entire scope of the manufacturing engineering function
Defines, analyzes and solves problems across the entire spectrum of the manufacturing process
Responsible for the manufacturing processes including development of total integrated manufacturing systems
Prepares and coordinates entire manufacturing engineering plans for introduction of a product into production
Provides technical/engineering advice to other manufacturing personnel
Answer technical questions from production personnel, quality assurance, and cross-functional teams regarding electrical assemblies, components, and manufacturing processes
Read, interpret, and analyze complex electrical engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and military specifications (MIL-SPECs)
Update and revise engineering drawings in CAD software to reflect approved changes, redlines, and as-built configurations
Review build-to-print documentation and suggest practical manufacturing improvements while maintaining design intent and compliance with DoD requirements
Evaluate, document, and process requests for variance from engineering drawings and specifications; coordinate with engineering and customer representatives for approval
Aide in the develop and optimize electrical assembly processes, work instructions, and manufacturing procedures for aviation electrical systems
Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with AS9100, MIL-STD requirements, and customer specifications
Investigate and resolve manufacturing discrepancies, non-conformances, and technical issues on the production floor
Maintain accurate records of engineering changes, variances, and manufacturing process documentation
Education
BS degree in electrical, electronics engineering technology, or related required
MS degree desired
Experience
Six years required at BS level OR four years required at MS level preferably in defense industry, aerospace/aviation and manufacturing
Experience should include basic manufacturing planning, understanding of military specifications and certifications, raw material selection engineering change process, design modification, use of CASD/CAM systems and manufacturing process development.
Two years of experience in aviation desired.
Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings
Working knowledge of MIL-SPECs, military standards, and DoD contractual requirements
Experience with build-to-print manufacturing environments
Understanding of IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620)
Knowledge of cable and harness testing methods including continuity, hi-pot, insulation resistance, and functional testing
Proficiency with engineering change and variance processes
Preferred Qualifications
AS9100 quality management system experience
Experience with avionics, wire harness assemblies, or electrical control systems
Experience utilizing Costpoint and DMS
