Overview
Butterfly Staffing is recruiting an experienced
Mechanical QC Specialist
to support a federal construction project in Norfolk, VA. This full-time, onsite position will oversee the quality control of mechanical systems installation and compliance throughout the duration of the project. This role is ideal for a mechanical engineer with 10+ years of field experience in quality control, project engineering, or construction management, preferably on government or military construction sites.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee mechanical scope quality for HVAC, piping, plumbing, and other systems in compliance with project specifications and contract requirements
Assist the QC Manager in coordinating the three-phase inspection process (Preparatory, Initial, Follow-Up)
Review mechanical submittals, drawings, and RFIs for accuracy and specification alignment
Perform field inspections of mechanical installations and log results, deficiencies, and resolutions
Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, and government inspectors to ensure successful execution
Maintain redlined drawings, punch lists, and documentation for mechanical scope compliance
Ensure all safety and QA standards are met in accordance with NAVFAC or USACE expectations
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in
Mechanical Engineering
or a related discipline
Minimum
10 years of experience
in mechanical construction as:
QC Manager
Project Engineer
Construction Manager
Project Superintendent or Project Manager
Hands-on knowledge of federal mechanical system standards and testing procedures
Prior experience on NAVFAC, USACE, or DOD projects strongly
Certifications
OSHA 30 Construction Safety
CQM-C for Contractors (USACE/NAVFAC)
CPR / First Aid
DBIDS or eligibility for base access
