The Enterprise Procurement department seeks a Sourcing Category Manager responsible for the Enterprise Services IT spend category, including hardware, labor, software, cloud, data center, network/telephony and end user compute. The Sr. Category Manager will define and execute sourcing strategies that drive P&L value across the assigned category, and will establish productive relationships with key stakeholders and executive leaders.
The role will act as a SME in spend analytics, market intelligence, and existing vendor agreements to build and maintain a pipeline of sourcing opportunities. You will lead on large scale strategic enterprise initiatives and special projects and develop category management plans. The Indirect Strategic Sourcing team manages over $9B in annual indirect spend across IT and non-IT categories and the Sr. Category Manager will mentor Category Managers and Analysts and report to a Lead Director within the Indirect Strategic Sourcing team.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain short, medium- and long-term category management and strategic sourcing plans, spend profiles, and a pipeline of opportunities.
Establish scheduled sourcing and category management reviews with key leaders and procurement leadership; position yourself as category management and strategic sourcing leader and expert.
Lead and mentor category managers and analysts on sourcing activities and analysis to ensure successful RFx execution aligned with category strategy.
Accountable for development and delivery of savings targets and measurement of savings achievements.
Lead and manage delivery of major sourcing events with high complexity, spend, and visibility.
Educate key leaders on CVS Health policies and processes to support Strategic Sourcing & Category Management and communicate the team’s value proposition.
Maintain status of completed, active, and planned sourcing activities as part of pipeline management and review with procurement management and business leaders.
Build category strategy and pipeline by leveraging spend analytics, market intelligence, and expiring contracts reporting.
Maintain strong working relationships with business and vendor management teams to ensure Strategic Sourcing is engaged early on engagements requiring vendor support.
Advise business leaders on bid strategy development and creating effective scope of work documents for competitive bid processes and SOWs.
Promote use of preferred suppliers to leverage the enterprise’s scale and drive greater value.
Develop key commercial principals with CVS Health’s contracting team to identify new and creative contracting approaches with vendors.
This role will ideally be a hybrid position based out of Woonsocket, RI, Hartford, CT or Buffalo Grove, IL; candidates within a commutable distance will be in office 2 days weekly.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of professional experience related to IT Strategic Sourcing & Category Management, aligning category planning with IT and BU stakeholders and roadmaps.
Proven experience building category management strategies by segmenting purchased goods/services to consolidate spend and enable IT strategy.
Proven experience building and presenting complex business cases to senior leaders in Procurement, Finance, IT and Business Units.
Strong business acumen with analytical ability, problem solving and ability to summarize large data sets.
Experience with IT Supply Chain, Procurement Analytics, Project Management, or Management Consulting.
Proven experience delivering value through negotiating complex technology agreements.
Proven expertise in developing vendor management and supplier consolidation plans.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to travel up to 15% for supplier presentations, site visits, and key department meetings at RI Headquarters (no more than quarterly).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
Strong background in Project/Program Management tools and methodology (Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, etc.).
Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and follow-up.
Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to gain new experiences and responsibilities.
Experience leading and implementing workflow development of electronic sourcing platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Ariba eSourcing).
Education Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain or a relevant field. MBA or relevant master’s degree preferred.
Pay Range The Typical Pay Range for This Role Is
$82,940.00 - $182,549.00
This base salary range may vary based on experience, education, geography and other factors. The position is eligible for CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive, and may include equity award opportunities.
