Director of Collection Management & Discovery Services Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, the Director of Collection Management and Discovery Services (CMADS) coordinates the design and implementation of strategies for acquisition, access, and discovery of library collections and information resources and will lead efforts in collection development. This position serves on the library's leadership team and oversees the following functional areas: Acquisitions, Government Documents, and Library Services Platform (LSP) Administration. This role will work closely with librarians responsible for Electronic Resources and Cataloging. The core responsibility is to support the acquisition, access, and discovery of library collections in order to fulfill the teaching, learning, and research needs of the university community.

Responsibilities

Administrative Duties and Acquisitions – Plan and facilitate departmental and collections management meetings, assess statistics, coordinate reporting, supervise staff, lead initiatives, and collaborate with Electronic Resources and Acquisitions teams.

Electronic Resources and Government Documents – Load resource records, create and maintain import profiles, serve as depository coordinator, and complete the Biennial Survey of Federal Depository Libraries.

Cataloging and Library Services Platform (LSP) Administration – Perform cataloging, inventory projects, metadata services, LSP configuration, data migration, troubleshooting, and lead the FOLIO Migration Working Group.

General – Serve on committees, support student engagement and research activities, engage in professional development, and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

– Master’s Degree in library and information science from an ALA accredited program; minimum three years of progressive experience in cataloging, acquisitions, electronic resource management, or a related field in an academic library setting; supervisory experience; excellent oral and written communication, organizational, project and time management skills.

Preferred

– Familiarity with EBSCO FOLIO LSP, EDS, holdings management, OCLC Connexion client, ClassWeb, MarcEdit, GOBI; demonstrated ability to train library staff; experience managing acquisitions, vendor relations, budgeting, resource negotiations, and procurement processes.

Salary Proposed Salary: $75,000-85,000 annually.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The Director of CMADS is a highly specialized position requiring extensive technical expertise to administer the library’s catalog (LSP) in concert with the Associate Vice Chancellor and Executive Director of GALILEO and other USG libraries. This position is critical to administering the LSP which enables seamless access to, and discovery of, library print and electronic resources for students and faculty.
