Overview
MEP Senior Preconstruction Engineer role at Holder Construction. Holder Construction is an ENR Top 25 industry leader with operations throughout the United States. The MEP Preconstruction department is based in the Atlanta office, with potential opportunities in Charlotte, NC; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; and Washington, D.C.
Primary responsibilities include leading and managing MEP preconstruction activities, estimating, design management, and subcontractor/vendor procurement.
Responsibilities
Work with project teams to lead and manage MEP preconstruction activities, including estimating, design management, and subcontractor/vendor procurement.
Communicate with electrical/mechanical equipment vendors, design engineers, clients, and subcontractors. Coordinate internal communication among departments and project stakeholders.
Prepare comparative analysis to previous estimates and clearly explain variances to project stakeholders.
Coordinate with teams of preconstruction engineers to develop a complete MEP scope of work and guide teams through atypical situations.
Prepare detailed MEP analyses of subcontractor and vendor bid proposals with recommendations for award, including risk analysis against project schedule and budget.
Opportunity to train and develop preconstruction engineers for technical and non-technical development in MEP systems.
Lead responses to RFPs to enhance Holder’s reputation with clients for current and future opportunities.
Represent Holder at design/coordination meetings, industry events, and maintain positive relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients/owners.
Own creation, updating, and presentation of project deliverables and tools to clients.
Support meetings with the owner, architect, and engineer for all aspects of the preconstruction phase.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent MEP subcontractor preconstruction experience.
5+ years of preconstruction experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and/or building automation systems/power monitoring systems.
Ability to read and understand electrical, HVAC, plumbing, architectural, and civil plans and specifications.
Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of MEP systems and equipment.
Experience leading a team of MEP Project Engineers / Estimators.
Outstanding communication and time management skills.
Ability to work in a collaborative environment with the following strengths:
