Overview M1 Support Services is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic I - Egress to primarily perform all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and equipment maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), M1 policy, DAFI 21-101 (and supplements), as well as industry standards.

Responsibilities

Conducts daily flight line and back shop Egress operations as required in accordance with Air Force Instructions, Publications, Manuals, Service Bulletins, Technical Orders, Engineering Disposition(s) and the PWS.

Maintains aircraft egress systems including ejection seats, canopies, explosive components, subsystems and related support equipment.

Assists with troubleshooting. Performs periodic, hourly or calendar inspections and time changes, as required.

Performs operational and functional tests of egress systems, subsystems and components using test equipment and test kits.

Applies corrosion control procedures to escape systems and related components.

Reads and interprets manufacturers and aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data and other specifications to determine repair or replacement methods.

Reviews and completes forms documentation pertinent to aircraft or equipment maintenance; enters maintenance actions into applicable MIS system and related logs or records.

Receives technical guidance from Managers, Supervisors, Leads or higher-level technicians; may aid in writing/initiating engineering technical assistance requests.

May be required to obtain and maintain special certifications as directed by management.

May perform aircraft and equipment maintenance on other assigned MDS aircraft in a highly cross-utilization environment with competency in areas such as repair and reclamation, APG, electro/environmental, avionics, wheel & tire, structures, composite repair, propulsion, fuels, non-powered AGE, armament, munitions, NDI, and pneudraulics.

Conducts daily aircraft launch and recovery operations, End-of-Runway inspections and aircraft inspections.

May perform transient aircraft support, CDDAR team member or chief duties, Phase inspection dock team member or chief duties, Engine run certifier duties, QA augmentation, Hydrazine response and Wheel & Tire functions.

Must complete all assignments and tasks as directed by Managers, Supervisors, Expediters, Leads and more senior technicians.

May be required to train on bomb lift use to load aircraft with various system pods, pylons or munitions.

May perform weed removal and general clean-up of facilities as assigned per PWS.

May travel to receive training to assist other personnel and work centers as directed.

May perform vehicle use inspections, cleaning and wash duties.

Qualifications and Experience

High School diploma or GED.

Minimum of four years' experience performing as a USAF or sister service fighter aircraft Egress System technician. Color vision test required. Must have completed an AETC Egress Technician Course for the specific aircraft to be maintained.

Must speak, read, write, and understand English.

Ability to work day shift, night shift or weekend duty and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team as required.

Professional demeanor when dealing with customers and company employees.

Must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work under timelines and stress while maintaining professionalism.

Working knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance directives, data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory.

Knowledge of Air Force supply and efficiency reporting procedures is mandatory.

Knowledge of proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is mandatory.

Must be able to obtain/maintain the security clearance level as mandated by the government customer.

Must possess a current valid U.S. Driver's License; may be required to obtain/maintain a government driver’s license. Color vision test may be required for CMA access.

Must be able to move about inside hangars and on ramps in proximity to running equipment and aircraft.

Working knowledge of computers (input/extract data) and Microsoft Office suite.

May be required to obtain/maintain aircraft and/or equipment Red X/IPI/ER certification.

Position may require complying with unique commuting/travel requirements.

Working Conditions

Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line with physical demands including standing, bending, stooping, lifting up to 35 pounds.

May be required to meet OSHA, DCMA or other industrial safety requirements including tests such as hearing, vision (color), respirator fit, and blood draw.

May be subjected to no-notice drug testing per Company policy or Customer direction.
