We are currently searching for a Project Energy/Mechanical Engineer to support our growing clean energy team. This position can be based in any location in NYS. The role will help grow and deliver energy efficiency, renewable generation, electrification, decarbonization, commissioning, retro‑commissioning and other clean energy and energy‑related projects throughout the U.S., but will be primarily focused in the Northeast U.S. We are looking for dedicated, creative, and energetic candidates interested in tackling challenges and developing sustainable solutions for our clients. Collaborating with our experienced professionals, you will support the development of projects, interact with clients, and develop your technical capabilities. Role Accountabilities
Support or lead project execution & delivery within the clean energy space focused primarily on HVAC design, energy and demand measures (energy‑efficiency, building/fleet electrification, and behind‑the‑meter/net‑metered distributed renewable generation), and some commissioning and retro‑commissioning to support facility‑ or enterprise‑wide decarbonization strategies. Support business growth through successful delivery of projects, development of technical approach for scopes of work, and commitment to client satisfaction. Review building and energy code, perform load calculations, equipment sizing and selection, system evaluation, HVAC studies and design, work with AutoCAD or Revit for design drawings. Gather information; evaluate, analyze, and support visualization of energy use data; complete energy efficiency, distributed generation, and alternative energy calculations; complete building and system modeling; complete technical and financial calculations. Perform or oversee engineering analyses, modeling, and calculations to support feasibility studies, energy audits, sustainability plans, and detailed designs. Support or coordinate field activities associated with clean energy projects including energy audits, lighting inventories, implementation oversight, and measurement and verification. Correspond with task managers, project managers, project teams, and clients. Provide technical and business mentorship to junior staff. Manage project schedule and budget. Key Skills and Attributes
Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and work ethic. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Self‑motivated and team‑oriented, with the ability to work successfully both independently and within a team. Proven ability to mentor and support staff growth. Flexible attitude towards assignments, with initiative and ability to take on new projects and challenges. Dependability and eagerness to take ownership of tasks. Interest in a combination of office work, field assignments, and travel. Knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, and practices related to building/mechanical systems, energy efficiency, renewable generation and other clean energy technologies. Knowledge of building control systems a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). Proficiency in AutoCAD or Autodesk Revit a plus. Qualifications
Required
5+ years of experience in clean energy, MEP design or construction related field. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Energy Engineering, or a related technical degree with proven work experience. Preferred
Prior work experience (5‑10 years) in consulting engineering or other business working in the MEP or clean energy sector. PE, CEM or LEED AP certification or other engineering‑, energy‑ or sustainability‑related accreditation, certification or training.
