Operations Manager/Shift Supervisor

Volunteers of America‑Greater New York (VOA‑Greater New York) is an anti‑poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County, providing emergency, transitional and permanent housing and a full range of supportive services to families, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred along with one year of relevant experience working in a similar capacity in a social service setting.

Good interpersonal skills and basic computer knowledge.

Certifications in security required and Fire Safety (F‑80) obtained within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

Supervise delivery of program services including intake, bed assignments, case management services, distribution of client mail, lockers, meal cards and medication.

Ensure optimal customer service is being provided to clients.

Ensure recreation activities are occurring.

Ensure the facility is adequately staffed at all times.

Work with DHS PD to ensure the daily security and safety of the facility.

Supervise facility maintenance, cleaning staff and fire safety.

Manage community relations and communicate with relevant authorities as needed.
