Overview
Location: USA or Canada (supporting multiple facilities)
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Senior Buyer to oversee the procurement of essential raw materials, indirect materials, MRO, services, and capital equipment. This pivotal role is key to achieving cost-effective sourcing, ensuring a steady supply chain, and aligning procurement efforts with operational and business goals.
Role Responsibilities
Oversee purchasing requirements for facilities in the USA and Canada.
Maintain comprehensive purchase records and vendor data, including specifications, pricing history, performance metrics, and contracts.
Perform market analysis to identify trends, cost influencers, and technological advancements in the supply base.
Lead supplier selection and quotation processes, conduct total cost of ownership analysis, and negotiate contracts.
Build and sustain robust supplier relationships through visits, audits, and performance evaluations.
Develop and implement commodity strategies to enhance purchasing leverage, ensure continuity of supply, and improve cost efficiency.
Support material budget planning, cost forecasting, and key performance initiatives.
Lead supplier negotiations, cost reduction workshops, and corrective action processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate supply risks and enhance supplier performance.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Abilities:
Extensive knowledge in plastics and chemicals procurement.
Proficiency in supplier relationship management and strategic sourcing.
Deep understanding of global supply chain success factors.
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering documents.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Power BI is highly preferred.
Capability to manage multiple projects independently.
Knowledge of supply market trends, industry associations, and purchasing-related contract law.
Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience, with a strong preference for a background in the plastics or chemical industry.
