Gas Resource Planning Analyst

Position Summary Design and implement complex gas supply, transportation, and storage service plans for both the gas distribution portfolio and electric generation portfolio. Perform complex modeling for various supply alternatives to ensure portfolio reliability and cost optimization. Negotiate gas transportation and storage agreements. Provide financial analysis of interstate and intrastate pipeline rates, expert testimony, and negotiate rate case settlements. Share knowledge and train others.

Essential Responsibilities

Perform complex resource modeling for XE's gas and electric operations and train others.

Develop sophisticated resource models in SendOut and Plexos to determine optimal gas purchases.

Create forecast projecting peak gas requirements and determine transportation and storage contracts.

Prepare and defend extensive regulatory filings and interface with regulators and stakeholders.

Perform financial analysis of pipeline rate cases and negotiate settlements.

Maintain dynamic annual and long‑range gas supply plans for the gas distribution and electric generation operating units.

Partner closely with the Gas Supply Manager and Gas Buyer/Traders to evaluate market opportunities.

Minimum Requirements Senior (109,500–155,500)

BS degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum 8 years of natural gas or electric industry experience in resource planning, design day modeling, or related areas.

Extensive knowledge of linear programming and model development.

Financial analysis skills and advanced written and oral communication for testimony and contract negotiation.

Analyst II (95,200–135,200)

BS degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum 5 years of natural gas or electric industry experience in resource planning, design day modeling, or related areas.

Extensive knowledge of linear programming and model development.

Financial analysis skills and advanced written and oral communication for testimony and contract negotiation.

Analyst I (82,800–117,600)

BS degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum 2 years of natural gas or electric industry experience in resource planning, design day modeling, or related areas.

Knowledge of linear programming and model development.

Financial analysis skills for service evaluation and regulatory filings.

Preferred Requirements Analyst II

– Master’s degree.

Analyst I

– Master’s degree; knowledge of natural gas industry and Plexos/SendOut modeling software.

Salary Range Pay base $82,800–$155,500 per year.
