Under the direction of the Quality Control Supervisor, the Quality Control Inspector works independently or in a team within the metals or felt value stream. Responsible for the visual, manual, and mechanical inspection of products and materials identifying defects/deviations from specifications in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following.
Reads, interprets, and adheres to quality control procedures and standards
Reads and interprets blueprints and/or shop drawings and uses precision measuring tools to verify parts and materials meet specifications
Reads and interprets manufacturing drawings, prints, and specifications
Performs visual, manual, and mechanical inspection of products and materials
Identifies defects/deviations from specifications and initiates non-conformance reports; communicates repair/re-work to production supervisor
Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizes re-work and waste; inputs data into quality database per the Quality Management System
Completes, maintains, and organizes QA/QC documentation and records
Inspects incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducts visual and measurement tests; rejects and returns unacceptable materials
Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducts visual and measurement tests; returns products for re-work as needed
Maintains measurement equipment and coordinates calibration and repairs
Maintains a safe and organized work environment by following standards and procedures
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Possess basic arithmetic skills
Knowledge of personal computers
Proficient use of measuring tools and a working knowledge of precision measuring tools (e.g., tape measure, calipers, micrometers)
Must follow all company policies and procedures
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while balancing multiple projects
Communication and people skills; team player willing to learn
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (PPE, dusty/hot environment, stairs, standing, lifting)
Ability to work off shift hours in support of plant initiatives
Must demonstrate proficiency in core production roles within 90 days of hire

Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
Work in varying weather and temperature conditions in a warehouse environment
Work Environment
Office Environment: may use standard office equipment; limited PPE
Plant Environment: manufacturing setting with potential extreme temperatures, uneven surfaces, noise, and dusty conditions; PPE as required (hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, safety footwear, fall protection)
Education And/or Experience
High school diploma or GED (required)
Minimum of 1 year of quality experience in metal fabrication or architectural industry (preferred)
Experience with powder coatings and finishes (preferred)
Familiar with sheet metal, welding, cutting, milling or related processes (preferred)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
CalOSHA 10 a plus
OSHA Forklift Certification a plus
CPR & First Aid Certification a plus
