Coordinate all research study activities with the Principal Investigator and provide direct nursing care as required. Manage clinical studies in accordance with OHRP, FDA regulations, ICH Good Clinical Practices, and IRB requirements. Develop study procedures and any necessary study documents not provided by sponsor or IRB. Educate HCA staff regarding research protocols and study procedures. Screen and recruit patients based on protocol criteria; explain study protocols, procedures, and treatments to patients and families. Conduct the Informed Consent process with study investigators and maintain proper documentation in research binders and patient records. May serve as Primary Coordinator for research studies; manage investigational drug accountability and dispensing; coordinate with Pharmacist if on a Delegation Log; administer Investigational Drug per protocol. Provide clinical interpretations and support for department members; assess proposed protocols for implementation and patient care. Acquire continuing education pertinent to research and your licensed profession; maintain good clinical practice standards and address non-compliance with corrective actions. Perform phlebotomy and IV procedures; prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and shipping; maintain patient records in EMR and hospital records. Report adverse study events to IRB and sponsors; complete all study-related paperwork; maintain documentation of research correspondence. Collaborate with sponsors, CROs, research teams, pharmacies, laboratories, IRBs, and hospitals to coordinate activities. Review relevant journals and literature to stay informed on the field. Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or other health-related field – required. Licensed RN; CCRC preferred; BLS required; ACLS preferred. Minimum of two years in a research specialty and two years clinical research experience. Knowledge of government regulations and compliance issues regarding clinical research and protection of human subjects (e.g., Common Rule, GCP). Demonstrated leadership, strong technical writing, and excellent organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, clinical and administrative staff; ability to follow complex instructions and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision. Proficiency with MS Office and data management; familiarity with EMR systems; ability to analyze and interpret scientific data and use computerized systems. Knowledge of medical coding/billing procedures in a physician practice setting is a plus. Note:
