Job Description

Under the general direction of the Senior Psychologist, Correctional Facility (Supervisor), the Psychologist-Clinical, Correctional Facility, is responsible for preadmission screenings, psychologist evaluation of inmates admitted to the program, crisis intervention, individual therapy, treatment and discharge planning, participating in interdisciplinary team evaluations, and consulting with the psychiatrist, nursing and other staff. The psychologist may be assigned other clinical duties throughout the institution, including participation in staff meetings, institutional committees, and consults with custody staff as well as supervision and training to students, interns, unlicensed psychologists and other staff. The psychologist may also participate in program evaluation and research, and may provide consultation on research design and analysis of data. This position may involve duties such as participation in staff meetings, institutional committees, and collaborations with healthcare and custody staff, as described above. Minimum Qualifications

License:

Possession of a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology and possession of an earned Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an educational institution meeting the criteria of Section 2914 of the Medical Board of California's Business and Professions Code. Individuals who do not qualify for licensure by the California Board of Psychology or who are in the process of securing this license will be admitted into the examination and may be appointed, but must secure a valid license within three years of an appointment or the employment shall be terminated. For part-time employment, an extension may be granted proportional to time-base, not to exceed five years in total. Unlicensed individuals recruited from outside California may take the examination and may be appointed for a maximum of two years, provided licensure is obtained or employment terminated thereafter. Applicants within six months of degree completion may be admitted into the examination but will not be eligible for appointment until the degree is awarded and internship completed. This job is listed until filled. The following program-specific details apply to this role: the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) implementation affects base salary for certain employees; part-time and permanent intermittent employees are included on a prorated basis. A Recruitment and Retention Bonus may be available for clinicians newly hired with California Correctional Health Care Services. The Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) rate may apply (P $11,496, Q $13,937). A potential $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend and a possible $20,000 total first-year differential may be available if eligibility criteria are met. A $5,000 referral bonus may be available for CDCR/CCHCS employees who are selected and remain employed for 90 days, with the related questionnaire provided during pre-employment. Equal Opportunity
