Overview

As an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to patients. The Registered Nurse is accountable for the coordination of patient care and education to the patient and family in accordance with the standards, policies, and practices in a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment. Essential Duties

Follows policies and procedures; demonstrates ability to access online manuals. Transfers learned scientific knowledge into practical application in applying the Nursing Process. ASSESSMENT Interprets Nursing Assessments upon patient admission, at each shift and with change of condition; completes patient acuity daily by 0200/1400. DIAGNOSIS Interprets assessment information and formulates Nursing Diagnoses. PLAN Develops plans of care with individualized interventions; documents expected/projected patient outcomes; reviews/revises/updates plans of care daily based on evaluation and interpretation of patient outcomes. INTERVENTION Administers medication and IV therapy appropriately at prescribed intervals; completes patient care procedures per policy; delegates tasks based on others’ scope of practice and competency; acts as patient advocate; manages restraint use per policy with attempts of non-restraint measures first; ensures MD order, MD assessment, patient monitoring, and completes Restraint Audit Form each shift. DOCUMENTATION Ensures documentation is complete and correct on all flow sheets and chart forms; completes required chart checks and ensures orders are transcribed and signed off prior to the end of the shift. EDUCATION Provides patient/family education as needed; coordinates room/unit orientation; identifies knowledge deficits related to diagnoses and care; uses MICROMEDEX information when appropriate. TRANSFER & DISCHARGE Collaborates with Case Manager and/or physician regarding discharge planning; ensures all transfer paperwork is completed and belongings are sent with the patient. EQUIPMENT Utilizes patient care equipment appropriately and safely according to manufacturer guidelines (IV pump, feeding pump, PCA pump, Epidural pump, Sequential compression device, Wound VAC, heating devices). COMMUNICATION Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team including patient and family; provides shift-to-shift reports, rounds, hand-offs, and appropriate communications with staff and stakeholders. ORGANIZATION Manages time effectively; organizes and prioritizes responsibilities; adheres to schedule expectations. OBSERVES REGULATORY AGENCY REQUIREMENTS: National Patient Safety Goals, patient identifiers, universal protocol, hand-off, medication reconciliation, clinical alarms, waste management, HIPAA/OSHA, JCAHO readiness, and other related requirements; maintains safe practice and proper documentation. MANAGEMENT OF CARE: Medical-Surgical, ICU/Stepdown/Telemetry, Dialysis, Psychiatric care, and related specialty areas as described; demonstrates ability to manage complex and high-acuity patients and advanced therapeutic modalities as appropriate. BEHAVIORAL RESTRAINTS Demonstrates de-escalation techniques; applies restraints when appropriate; monitors safety; obtains physician orders and completes debriefing as required. QUALITY MEASURES Identifies patients meeting Core Measure criteria and participates in data collection and process improvements related to Nurse Sensitive Quality Indicators. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Participates in professional activities and unit projects; engages in continuing education and related activities. BONUS POINTS Recognizes relevant certifications and achievements (e.g., preceptor roles, certifications, CE activities, recognition events). Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

Req Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) — grandfathered from BSN if hired prior to 12/2019 Req 1 year acute inpatient hospital experience in the United States Req Excellent communication skills in English (speaking, reading, writing) Req Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions and ability to perform duties including whole blood collection and apheresis procedures in accordance with policies Req Commitment to excellence in patient care and customer service Req Ability to work independently with minimal direction Preferred Qualifications

Req Registered Nurse (CA Board of Registered Nursing) Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider – American Heart Association Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) — if no card on hire, obtain within 30 days and renew by expiration date (LA City only) Req Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider – American Heart Association (Required for Intensive Care, Step-down, and Telemetry) The hourly rate range for this position is $44.00 - $95.00.
