The Lukens lab in the Department of Neuroscience and the Center of Brain Immunology and Glia (BIG) at the University of Virginia is seeking to hire a motivated and detail-oriented Lab Tech/Specialist varying levels to perform and assist with animal colony management, data analysis, and experiments. The Lukens lab is investigating the role of neuroinflammation in Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and traumatic brain injury. Hiring level will depend on experience. Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for managing the lab's animal colony, genotyping, contributing to data analysis, performing molecular studies, and helping to train Graduate Students. Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: At least 1 year of lab experience, which may include student experience. Bachelor's degree will be considered in lieu of experience.

Physical Demands

This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. It also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation. Position Type & Work Location

This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on-site.
