4855 HARRY HINES BLVD Responsibilities

The Psychologist III (Forensic Evaluator) performs advanced and/or managerial (senior-level) psychological work and conducts: 46B and Chapter 55 competency evaluations and 46C violence risk assessments; development, support, and coordination of forensic psychological activities and programs; forensic psychological assessments and psycho-legal evaluations of patients’ competency to stand trial; supervision of others and graduate psychology trainees as requested; collaboration with disciplines such as competency restoration, trial competency evaluation, and treatment of individuals acquitted as not guilty by reason of insanity; expert consultation and testimony in legal proceedings; thorough documentation and regulatory compliance; program development and quality improvement initiatives; ongoing training and policy development with other disciplines; supervision and coaching to ensure professional competency of forensic evaluators. Other duties as assigned, including disaster response/COOP; potential shift/location changes. Additional duties

Provide consultation and guidance on forensic-educational activities based on best practices and current research. Offer expert testimony to courts and contribute to safety, risk management, and infection control programs. Deliver continuing education to multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to promote best practices in forensic care. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Knowledge of forensic psychological assessment and treatment for seriously mentally ill forensic populations. Knowledge of psychotherapy modalities (CBT, DBT, etc.). Skills with psychological instruments (MMPI, HCR-20, VRAG, TOMM, MFAST, SIRS). Ability to conduct forensic assessments, write clear reports, and provide expert court testimony. Ability to supervise and train others; provide education to staff; communicate assessment data effectively. Licensure and Certification

Must be licensed as a Psychologist by the State of Texas or have reciprocity. Initial Screening Criteria

Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited college or university. One year of supervised experience by a licensed psychologist in psychological services; or an academic year of full-time supervised internship in an approved clinical program. One year of experience conducting forensic evaluations and standard psychological assessments with forensic populations in an inpatient psychiatric setting, including report writing. One year of experience conducting individual and group psychotherapy with forensic populations in an inpatient psychiatric setting. Additional Information

Applicants must pass fingerprinting, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks (CANRS, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, and Employee Misconduct, LEIE).
