Per Diem Speech/Language Pathologist
to our team to help us take care of our growing patient population. Role Overview
Perform a variety of Speech Pathology diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic procedures for inpatients with potential to expand coverage to outpatient clinic. Develop optimal therapeutic treatment and discharge plans for patients with communication and/or swallowing disorders according to principles and practices of the profession in order to maintain high standards and uniform level of care. Provide counseling to patients and their families as needed by explaining the treatment plan and providing pertinent literature to ensure they are well informed and abreast of the patient’s current level of functioning and prognosis. Provide appropriate information regarding community resources to the general population and peers within the Speech and Hearing community. Communicate with family members, physicians, nurses, teachers and outside agencies regarding results of evaluations, therapeutic interventions and recommendations. Work closely with the rest of the department to promote continuity of care, best practice and ongoing program growth and development. Document patient visits/consults and maintains proper documentation in patient medical record in accordance with JCAHO and NY State regulations and completes documentation to bill for the services rendered. Key Qualifications
New York State Licensure in Speech Pathology Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) awarded by the American Speech Language Hearing Association Master’s degree in Speech Pathology plus one year fellowship Preferred
Experience and a strong interest in working with the Oncology population in an acute care setting, including: Adult speech, language, and cognitive evaluations and management for inpatients with deficits related to a primary cancer or treatment related sequelae. Dysphagia evaluation and treatment in the acute setting and ability to determine the need for instrumental evaluation. Evaluating swallowing and voice with Tracheostomy and ventilator dependent patients. Experience with instrumental evaluations of swallowing- Videofluoroscopy and FEES. Experience and comfort evaluating and treating patients with complex medical issues. Core Skills

Location: main hospital campus, 1275 York Avenue, in NYC Schedule: Availability/flexibility to cover Monday through Friday starting at 9am. Minimum requirement of 3 days per month with potential to cover short-term leave. Reporting to Manager, Speech Pathology Pay Range : $75/hr.
