Research Veterinarian
will join a pioneering biotech company based in
Raleigh, North Carolina , focused on transforming global food production and animal health through innovative technologies. This role is central to a high-impact initiative that integrates veterinary science with engineering to develop next-generation solutions for biologic delivery, animal welfare, and agricultural efficiency. The
Research Veterinarian
will lead field trials, guide veterinary practices, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance and drive product strategy.
This position will follow standard hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, onsite in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Responsibilities
Lead and co-manage field trials supporting TARGAN’s research initiatives
Conduct posting sessions and provide veterinary services for research studies
Develop, implement, and enforce research protocols
Present findings to internal teams and at industry conferences
Advise on product strategy from a veterinary perspective
Identify vaccines and biologics suitable for delivery via proprietary technology
Collaborate with engineering teams on device design and testing
Ensure compliance with USDA regulations and animal care standards
Support and practice the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) in all research
Contribute to biosecurity and animal welfare policy development
Conduct in vivo experiments and assist in biological assay development
Utilize LIMS, Microsoft Excel, and Power BI for data tracking and analysis
Support USDA CVB safety and efficacy study submissions
Qualifications
Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from an AVMA-accredited institution
Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the United States
5–10 years of experience with livestock species in lab, field, or experimental settings
Experience leading scientific research projects
Familiarity with regulatory submissions and biologic safety studies
Strong knowledge of poultry and swine diseases and treatment programs
Excellent communication, organization, and conflict resolution skills
Experience managing budgets and leading cross-functional teams
Self‑directed and goal‑oriented with a drive to exceed expectations
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary: $100,000–$130,000, with flexibility for the right candidate
Annual bonus: 10%
Equity participation
Generous time off: 20 PTO days + 14 holidays, including winter shutdown
