Position Overview The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Cincinnati seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Computational Neuroscience. The research areas include, but are not limited to: modeling and method development for analyzing nervous system function; computation and function of sensory systems and their interactions; theoretical analysis of neural and behavioral processes; modeling of neural circuits underlying behavior; information processing and computational principles in neurons and neural circuits; and the use of robotics, big data, machine learning, and/or artificial intelligence in research.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain an externally funded, internationally recognized research program in computational neuroscience in the applicant’s area of expertise.

Teach existing and/or develop new courses such as neuroscience, computational biology and/or biological statistics at undergraduate and/or graduate levels.

Direct supervision of MS and PhD students, ensuring progress in research and development of dissertation projects.

Participate in relevant service to the department, college, university, and profession including serving on committees and contributing to the development of biology‑related programs.

Qualifications

A PhD in Biology, Neuroscience, or a closely related field, with relevant expertise in computational neuroscience as demonstrated by at least 2 peer‑reviewed publications.

Six (6) months of postdoctoral or other professional research experience following PhD completion.
