Overview
Lead Patient Access Representative role at Lexington Medical Center (Lexington Health network). Location: Columbia, SC area. Full-time schedule: AM/PM and every other weekend. Lexington Health is a comprehensive network of care that includes six community medical and urgent care centers, nearly 80 physician practices, more than 9,000 health care professionals and Lexington Medical Center, a 607-bed teaching hospital in West Columbia, South Carolina. Job Summary: Greet and register patients, obtain demographic and financial information for accurate billing and medical records, obtain signatures and consents, and support the Central Registration area in coordination with Patient Access Leadership as needed. Verify demographic and financial information to ensure accuracy of the patient’s Medical Record and collect/report Point of Service (POS) collections. Interview patients or representatives to obtain required information; obtain proper consent for adults and minors; obtain necessary registration signatures. Obtain copies/scanning of picture IDs and insurance cards; cover registration areas as needed until relieved; communicate with patients by face-to-face interaction or phone. Obtain Workers Compensation information and verify as needed. Maintain knowledge of policy and procedures for insurance data collection; document unusual situations; arrange translators when required. Assist Supervisor with training and provide input for evaluations; help schedule and staff the area; reconcile end-of-day cash drawers; report issues to Supervisors. Maintain professional appearance and communication; support teamwork and positive relationships; handle incoming calls and route or take messages as needed. Attend monthly department meetings and read and acknowledge minutes when unable to attend; perform other appropriate activities as directed to meet patient needs and departmental outcomes. Qualifications
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Minimum Experience: 1 year in a healthcare setting and/or customer service Substitutable Education & Experience: None Required Certifications/Licensure: None Required Training: Proficiency with PCs; familiarity with medical terminology and billing Benefits
