Overview

Summary: Performs simple and complex tests in a clinical laboratory to provide data for use in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer and cancer-related diseases in a timely, accurate and dependable manner. Routine assignment will be in the Chemistry and Hematology sections of the clinical laboratory. Routine schedule may include a weekend shift. Qualifications

Required Education and Experience License Requirement License to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technician or Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or Eligibility for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technician in the State of New York. Education and Experience Associate's degree in Medical Technology or a related health care discipline. NOTES: License to practice as a Certified Histological Technician in the State of New York may be accepted in lieu of the licensure requirement for positions assigned to the Histology Service; or Eligibility for licensure as a Certified Histological Technician in the State of New York may be accepted in lieu of the licensure eligibility requirement for those positions assigned to the Histology Service. As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain and maintain the required licensure within six (6) months of their appointment to this title. Possession of the Clinical Laboratory Technician licensure supersedes educational requirements listed above, as stated in section 58-1.5 (e) of the NYS Codes, Rules and Regulations. Possession of the Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure supersedes educational requirements listed above, as stated in section 58-1.5 (b) of the NYS Codes, Rules and Regulations.
