AdventHealth . Location: AdventHealth Waterman, Cancer Institute, 4000 Waterman Way, Tavares, FL 32778. Schedule: PRN. Shift: As needed. Role: Per Diem. Responsibilities
The Radiation Therapist administers safe and compassionate radiation treatment to cancer patients according to the plans prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Ensure patient safety and observe/document any reactions to treatments. Maintain equipment and follow all safety regulations regarding radiation exposure. Operate radiation-producing equipment according to department and vendor guidelines to deliver prescribed therapy. Contribute to verification of disease mechanics and treatment planning; participate in related verification activities. Comply with universal precautions, infection control, medical records documentation and patient safety requirements. Produce treatment setups within acceptable parameters daily; review changes to treatment setups and implement them. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care/needs; verify lab work prior to treatment and obtain approvals if values are outside recommended ranges. Report equipment malfunctions or discrepancies to Chief Therapist and/or Medical Physicist. Review consistency checks for new starts/field reductions/boosts; identify treatment volumes and duplicate simulation films and plans. Rotate through simulator, accelerators, and HDR; perform assigned duties in each, including QA Observe treatment-related symptoms/reactions and report to RN and/or Radiation Oncologist. Demonstrate teamwork to expedite processes and support high-quality care. Provide staff training and coverage when necessary. Qualifications
State of Florida Radiologic Technologist (Radiation Therapy Technologist) license ARRT(T) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists-Radiation Therapy certification BLS-CPR certification required Fluent in English; effective communication skills Experience/knowledge of computers Minimum A.S. or B.S. from an accredited Radiation Therapist program Preferred: minimum two (2) years hospital experience Benefits and Equal Opportunity
