Daily operations of the unit when scheduled, including quality and safety initiatives. Ensure bedside reporting daily; implement and monitor compliance with HCAHPs initiatives and care bundles (e.g., CLABSI, CAUTI). Maintain hand hygiene and appropriate attire; participate in and lead committees and quality initiatives. Escalate issues relating to rules and regulations in a timely and effective manner; ensure area meets established standards and guidelines. Lead service excellence through hourly rounding and bedside shift reports; de-escalate situations and implement service recovery. Recruit, onboard, and develop staff; identify Clinical Staff Leaders and facilitate their growth; coach and counsel to enhance performance; conduct performance reviews with department leadership. Facilitate monthly staff meetings and collaborate with leadership to communicate concerns and solutions. Facilitate appropriate orientation and ongoing education for new staff; identify education opportunities for self and staff; provide constructive feedback on care provided. Manage staffing productivity based on census and acuity; analyze shift staffing for current and next 24 hours; monitor supply costs and adhere to PAR levels. Ensure timely patient placement according to department matrix; complete Kronos per guidelines; update daily schedule to reflect actual staffing; monitor time and attendance and take corrective action as needed. Communicate effectively with physicians and service lines; participate in community outreach programs (e.g., health fairs, community events). Demonstrate mastery of patient care, including assessment, treatment, care planning, patient education, and evidence-based practice; lead by example and embrace change. Qualifications
Education:
Required – Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Preferred – BSN. Experience:
Required – Clinical experience; leadership abilities. Preferred – Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience. Licensure/Certification:
Required – Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee; BLS completed prior to unit assignment and maintained; unit-specific approved certification; certified training as required by area of practice; note: certification by specialty within 1 year of exam eligibility for area of practice. Tennessee multi-state licensure will be handled per Nurse Licensure Compact rules; non-residents must obtain Tennessee or multi-state licensure within 3 months of hire. Job Details
