Communicate with owners, treat sick or injured small animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds, and running life-saving protocols (CPR, Oxygen, emergency medications). Collect tissue, blood, feces, urine or other bodily fluids for examination and analysis. Euthanize animals. Follow hospital standard operating procedures. Maintain appropriate medical records and communication logs. Adhere to pharmacy laws to ensure compliance. Position Summary
This position is part-time, as needed, within the Emergency Critical Care unit of the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The PRN Veterinarian will work within the unit assessing, treating, and developing surgery or treatment plans for unwell small animal patients of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification
Licensed in good standing to practice Veterinary medicine within the State of Georgia. Experience in emergency medicine. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Extensive experience in assessing, diagnosing and treating small animals, mostly cats and dogs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Work collaboratively within a team of veterinary professionals and veterinary students. Physical Demands
Extensive movement within multiple areas of the hospital; carrying up to 50 lbs; working around infectious disease that requires isolation protocols; PPE including mask, gloves, radiation apron, and face shield. Compliance and Responsibilities
