Overview
The Veterinarian is a key member of the Mission Pet Health (MPH) hospital team. Veterinarians diagnose and treat a variety of patients and diseases, provide follow up and prognosis to veterinary clients, and provide leadership and training to the medical support staff. They provide complete medical notes and accurate medical estimates. We are actively seeking a DVM to join our team at Veterinary Medical Center of Fort Mill in Fort Mill, SC. The following duties and responsibilities reflect the expectations of this job but are not intended to be all inclusive. The essential functions are the most significant tasks and are the essence of why the role exists. Responsibilities
Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MPH. Diagnose, perform surgery, and treat patients. Maintain excellent client communication. Record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and accurate information. Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients. Call clients for follow up and to discuss results. Set standards of care/protocols for medical and surgical areas. Maintain practice growth and review financial reports. Communicate clearly and accurately through written and verbal interactions. Work in collaboration with practice manager for administrative management. Deal with clients in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism. Mentor team members in the training program for career advancement and personal development toward goals. Provide feedback and changes to the training program. Provide guidance to the support staff to assure that the shift flows well. Provide input to the hospital manager for 360-degree employee performance evaluations. Ability to lead and establish a vision for the practice team. Proven ability to perform all basic surgeries, including use of all standard medical instruments and equipment. Be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing skills. Demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and handle a fast-paced environment. Stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis. Give SQ, IM and IV injections. Know the usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and be able to explain them to clients. Know anesthesia and recovery states and alert veterinarians when symptoms change or concerns arise with hospitalized patients. Properly extubate, monitor temperature and recover a patient from anesthesia. Use practice management software proficiently. Additional Functions:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university prior to position start date. Licensure must be in good standing to practice in the state. Physical Requirements
Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing; ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and more with coworker. Endure sitting, standing, and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods. Sufficient ambulatory skills to perform duties in a hospital environment. Ability to work in noisy conditions with sounds from animals and equipment. Exposure to pets that may bite or scratch; exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances. Ability to hear verbal instructions and client discourse; vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
